Daktronics to provide Camp Randall and Kohl Center with scoreboards, display systems

Football Betting Spread By WTN News • 03/15/04 MADISON -- Daktronics, Inc. announced today it has been chosen again to provide scoring and display systems for the University of Wisconsin-Madisons Camp Randall Stadium and Kohl Center arena. The new equipment will replace existing equipment provided by the South Dakota-based company in the early 1990s. The value of the project exceeds $5 million with installation scheduled to be complete before the start of the 2004 Badger football and 2005 Badger basketball seasons.

These integrated video, scoring, information and advertising display systems will be among the most sophisticated of any at NCAA facilities, and will add even more excitement for fans at Badger football, basketball and hockey games, said Kirk Simet, sports system sales manager of Daktronics.

The new Camp Randall Stadium scoreboard, to be located at the north end of the facility, will measure 50 feet high by 170 feet wide -- one of the largest scoreboards in any NCAA football facility. A unique feature of the main scoreboard will be its angled design, with outside portions angled toward the center, helping to enclose the stadiums seating bowl. The scoreboard will feature full-color ProStar video display and include fixed-digit scoring sections by utilizing light emitting diode (LED) technology, multiple sponsor panels and two camera platforms.

Daktronics will also provide Camp Randall with auxiliary displays in the southeast corner of the stadium and below the upper deck of on the stadiums west side in addition to smaller auxiliary scoreboards, delay-of-game timers and locker room clocks.

For the Kohl Center, Daktronics has designed a unique center-hung scoreboard incorporating eight full-color displays measuring 24 feet wide by 23 feet high. The four primary video screens will incorporate high-resolution ProStar 10 mm pixel technology. Four additional full-color displays will be used for presenting game-in-progress information and other text, graphics, animation and video. The Kohl Center will be one of the first collegiate facilities to incorporate a 360-degree display system around the arenas seating bowl. Daktronics ProAd technology will surround the entire arena and is designed to provide fans with additional information and excitement in full-color.

The Kohl Center will also be one of a few collegiate facilities in the country and one of the first in the Big Ten Conference to install LED backboard lighting strips, which have recently been mandated by the NBA to assist officials and alert players when the shot clock or period time expires. The LED strips will be mounted to the back of the backboard and illuminate in red when the clock reaches zero. Daktronics will also provide auxiliary LED scoreboards, game/shot clocks, goal lights for hockey and locker room clocks.

Daktronics is based out of Brookings, S.D. and provides scoring and display equipment for professional, collegiate and high school sports venues nationwide.

Daktronics will also provide Camp Randall with auxiliary displays in the southeast corner of the stadium and below the upper deck of on the stadiums west side in addition to smaller auxiliary scoreboards, game timers and locker room clocks.
