Link can hop onto his horse then move around the world freely, very similarly to in Ocarina of Time. This mini-game-esque portion of the demo had Link ride around a ranch trying to round-up 20 different cows. The control stick moved Epona forward in traditional fashion, while the A button caused Link to push the cattle in a specific direction. After the mini-game, Link has to jump over some obstacles by pressing the A button with appropriate timing.

Online Spread Betting Unfortunately, we were unable to play much past this part of the Tauru Village demo, as a Nintendo rep wanted to demonstrate to us the horseback-themed demo called Marauder Battle. In it, Link battles his way across a war-like battlefield, fighting enemies on horseback. Nintendos created a very solid control set-up for the horseback-based fighting. Link can make Epona run faster if you press the A button. Like in both Nintendo 64 Zelda masterpieces you can only use this action so many times in a row before you have to wait for the action to be available again. In addition to this returning mechanic is the entirely new horseback swordplay. The B button lets Link swing his sword if tapped, and if held, lets Link do a powerful twirl with his sword, in a similar fashion to how he normally does on foot.

But the real treat at the Zelda booth was the playable demo called Forest Temple. As the name implies, it was a 15-minute playable demo of one of Twilight Princess many dungeons. Also, as the name suggests, it featured a forest theme similar to the Forest Temple found in Ocarina of Time. However, Twilight Princess Forest Temple looks nothing like the Ocarina of Time dungeon. Beautiful animation brings the experience to life, while sharp textures make it look both realistic not to mention very manga-esque thanks to the stylish art direction. Countless vines run up and down the temples many walls, while stylish architecture and lighting effects blend together to create an epic atmosphere. Wrap this all together and Twilight Princess becomes a truly stunning piece of software. Even problems like the minor frame rate slowdown are easily forgotten. Its that pretty.
